Caryn brings 20 years of experience to her consulting work with the nonprofit, for-profit and government sectors having served in a variety of capacities from development director to board member and executive director to consultant. Her extensive background includes business and strategic planning, earned income/social enterprise development, strategic partnership development, governance, fundraising, grantwriting and grant-making. She has worked with nonprofits and grantmaking entities (nonprofit and for-profit) across a wide range of focus areas.

Earlier in her career Caryn worked for the city of Boulder and before to relocating to Colorado, she served as the director of women’s services at the YWCA of Greater Lansing. At the YWCA, she managed fundraising activities and served as the organization's liaison to a variety of community groups. Through these two positions, Caryn developed an understanding of, and passion for, the power of cross-sector partnerships and sustainable enterprise models to make a difference in our communities.

As an entrepreneur and small business owner (Your Write Hand, 1998-2007, and now through interSector Partners), Caryn understands the unique challenges faced by the business community. Her interest in sustainable enterprise extends to this audience as she works to help small to medium sized businesses develop socially responsible business practices and proactively define their community engagement strategies.

Caryn is trained in the Skilled Facilitator and Technology of Participation (TOPs) methods of facilitation and is a certified trainer for the National Center for Social Entrepreneurs. She has shared her experience and expertise through trainings at the Social Enterprise Summit, Colorado Nonprofit Association’s fall conference, Community Foundation Serving Boulder County’s Community Ventures, Social Venture Partners Boulder County’s partner and investee education events and the Larimer County United Way’s technical assistance program. While with JVA Consulting, LLC, Caryn developed and led community trainings and provided sessions for Denver Young Nonprofit Professionals learning circles and JVA’s Executive Director Academy.

Caryn has a B.A. in sociology from Michigan State University and a master’s in nonprofit management from Regis University. She is currently on the executive committee of Social Venture Partners Boulder County.

I highly recommend Caryn Capriccioso. She has been the primary facilitator of the Public Health Alliance strategic planning process and has also worked with the Colorado Public Health Association, so I feel she has a good understanding of the intricacies of public health. She is a VERY good facilitator and sets up processes that are respectful of everyone at the table.
