interSector Partners: Take Five, it’s Friday

February 3rd, 2017 11:58am - Posted By: Caryn Capriccioso

A weekly(-ish) roundup of what what’s new or newsworthy with us, our clients, our partners and friends.

If we tell you how boring this week’s Take Five will be, will you read it? Turns out, not everything is earth-shattering, or even very interesting, yet is important nonetheless.

1. Boring, but important. The IRS has released an updated 990-EZ Short Form Return of Organizational Exempt from Income Tax along with “assistive pop-up information.” Yes, we subscribe to the EO Update: e-News for Charities & Nonprofits (because we’re extra fun like that!) and you can, too.

2. Still boring, but quite helpful. The IRS provides life cycle content for nonprofits to understand the necessary filing requirements and forms. Whether starting out or ...

interSector Partners: Take Five, it’s Friday

January 20th, 2017 12:42pm - Posted By: Caryn Capriccioso

A weekly(-ish) roundup of what what’s new or newsworthy with us, our clients, our partners and friends.

Change is all around us; in fact it’s known to be “the only constant…” This week we focus on the importance of adapting to change for sustainability.

1.       Expanding, contracting, adding or adjusting. interSector had the pleasure of working with the Metro Volunteers board of directors and staff as they explore opportunities to enhance services to meet changing community needs. Looking forward to a front row seat as the new vision comes to life.

2.       Seeing the writing on the wall – and getting out ahead of it. Two years ago, Planned Pare ...

Now We Are Six

interSector Partners, L3C Now We Are Six                                                                                   interSector Partners, L3C

Six years ago during this little thing called "the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression," we had a crazy idea to start a business. Believing that it was time for a new way of doing good *and* doing business, interSector was born to support changemakers working within any business structure as they leverage their talents to make a difference in the world. At the time, terms like impact and social entrepreneur, alternative b ...

interSectors Take Five for Friday

January 23rd, 2015 3:08pm

A weekly(-ish) roundup of what what’s new or newsworthy with us, our clients, our partners and friends. Mostly professional, some personal – with a focus on the positive.

1.       L3C interest ebbs and flows – this month it’s flowing. Based on the number of downloads of Who is the L3C Entrepreneur? and inquiries to interSector from folks hoping to start an L3C, we know that interest in this LLC-based structure for social good is here to stay.

2.       A new book to support the above point. From our good friend and leader in the entrepreneurship, social enterprise and impact investing space, Marc Lane brings u ...

December 12th, 2014 11:23am

A weekly(-ish) roundup of what what’s new or newsworthy with us, our clients, our partners and friends. Mostly professional, some personal – with a focus on the positive.

- Same name, (slightly) different game. interSector Partners, L3C may  have been the earliest adopter of the term “intersector” to focus on the evolving field of cross-sector work, but we’re excited to share the space with colleagues at The Intersector Project who are doing impressive work on the research side of cross- and tri-sector collaboration.

- Art Restart Redux. We’re just so darned proud to see Colorado Social Enterprise Exchange Inaugural Cohort graduate The Gathering Place get some amazing coverage in 5280 Magazine – and to learn that one of the artists received a royalty check ...

interSectors Five for Friday

November 7th, 2014 6:02pm

A weekly roundup of what what’s new or newsworthy with us, our clients, our partners and friends. Mostly professional, some personal – with a focus on the positive.

1.       As the NB3 Foundation executive director search continues, we had the pleasure of talking with some exceptional, talented, visionary candidates from around the country.

2.       One simple question: “Who’s selling pies?” opened a flood gate of Pie in the Sky enthusiasm. (Project Angel Heart board chair, Lorii, was fastest on the draw and earned our order.)

3.       Who can blame us if our co-branded Art Restart cards make us want to escape ...

Impact Investor Education Event Series to Support HUB Boulder

June 19th, 2012 4:57pm

As you may know, Rick and I are involved in an exciting new initiative serving social entrepreneurs – HUB Boulder. Part of a global network of co-working locations, HUB Boulder is a place-based community for changemakers opening this fall.

Over the last year, we’ve been hard at work assessing feasibility, raising money, selecting a great location (Walnut and Broadway in downtown Boulder) and gathering like-minded people to help build the HUB Boulder community. With 68 members to-date (4 months before we open!!!), a number of great events and a whole lot of learning, together we will have a HUB to be proud of—many of our approaches and some of our initial programming are already being touted as models for other HUBS – with such an amazing group of members and friends, it’s no doubt that trend will continue.

From time to time on our blog, we’ll provide ...
