2011 L3C SURVEY

Welcome!
As many of you know, Caryn Capriccioso and I co-founded interSector Partners, L3C in February of 2009. We organized in Vermont and we were the 39th L3C to organize in the country. We were also the first L3C operating in Colorado.
Since February of 2009, we’ve talked with dozens and dozens of social entrepreneurs from around the country who are in various stages of researching, considering and eventually organizing an L3C. As part of our social mission, over the past 18 months, we’ve committed more than 300 hours of pro bono time consulting with folks who are seriously interested in the L3C.
In May of 2009, we released our white paper Who is the L3C Entrepreneur? to tell the stories of those entrepreneurs pioneering social enterprise’s revolutionary new suffix! The response to the paper has been incredible with nearly 200 downloads from around the world since early May 2010.
Our 2011 L3C Survey should take about 15 minutes to compete and the reasons we're doing this are twofold. First, we’re planning to update our paper later this year. A great deal has been happening relating to L3Cs, since we released it, and in the nearly two years we’ve been an L3C, we find updated and relevant information is key to making meaningful, effective and most importantly strategic decisions. Information from you will help us frame this update!
Second, we believe that all L3Cs want to do more and most could use some help. Some need lots of help, some just a little. We hear it from everyone we talk with and so we’d like to know a little about you and your L3C. This survey will help us to better understand you, where you’ve been, where you are and where you want to go as an L3C.
We’ve talked with L3Cs that are all struggling with some of the same issues. We’d like to gather everyone’s info and see what, if anything, we can do to help! You’re probably aware they’re doing this with the B Corp community – we think there’s a great opportunity to do it with L3Cs and now's the time!
